Former two-division world champion Amir Khan (36-5, 21 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over former IBF champion Billy “The Kid” Dib (45-6, 26 KOs) on Friday night July 12th 2019 at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. Khan dropped Dib with a left hook in round two and again in round four, Dib’s corner threw in the towel. Khan claimed the vacant WBC International welterweight title with the win. Bonanza strike opportunity for Khan or Dib in Saudi Arabia
Amir Khan fights Billy Dib in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, after his scheduled opponent, Neeraj Goyat, was injured in a car accident.
Khan has a record of 33-5, with 20 knockouts.
On April 20, in his last bout, he was defeated by American champion Terence Crawford.
Dib, on the other hand, will reach this commitment with a record of 45-5, 26 knockouts. Both fighters were face to face in a pre-match press conference, where they were respectful and raring to get into the ring of King Abdullah Sports City of Jeddah.
Considering the quality of Khan and Dib, the World Boxing Council approved that in this attractive bout , the vacant International welterweight belt be disputed.
The status of current WBC International Welterweight champion Mikael Zwesky was carefully examined by the Committee. Taking into account that Mikael’s next fight of June 28th will also have other titles at stake; Considering that the governing rules of the WBC International Championships do not allow multiple title bouts; Having Zwesky failed to defend our belt since December last year; much to our regret, the Committee declared the WBC International Welter weight title vacant.

El día 12 de julio de 2019, la ciudad de Jeddah, Arabia Saudita, vivirá una noche de boxeo histórica protagonizada por el gran ex campeón mundial, Amir Khan. Originalmente, Amir Khan estaría enfrentando a Neeraj Goyat; sin embargo, Goyat sufrió un accidente automovilístico recientemente, provocándole lesiones que le impedirán subir al ring en esta noche. Por esta razón, Billy Dib será el nuevo contrincante de Amir. Goyat Injured, Amir Khan will face Dib for the WBC international welterweight vacant title
On July 12th 2019 the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will host a night of historic boxing starring the great former world champion Amir Khan. Originally, Amir Khan was to face Neeraj Goyat. But, the latter suffered a car accident recently, causing him some injuries that will prevent him from going into the ring that night in Jeddah. Billy Dib will be Amir’s new opponent. The World Boxing Council had prepared a special belt to recognize the winner of this fight. Not only because that would have been a historical contest, but also as a symbol of peace to recognize the efforts of Amir Khan who represents Great Britain and Pakistan and Neeraj Goyat who was representing India. This is to boost sports and social development in this region. Considering all these elements and above all the proven quality of both contenders, the WBC approved Khan vs. Dib to be for the vacant WBC International Gold belt. The pearl belt will be reserved for another special occasion in the future. Likewise, the WBC and its President Mauricio Sulaimán take this opportunity to wish Neeraj Goyat a speedy recovery.
