FLYWEIGHT SILVER

This belt became vacant after former title holder Sebastian Gomez Sanchez (México) announced his retirement from boxing.   The vacant WBC International Flyweight Silver title bout took place last April 24 in Hermosillo, Sonora México, promoted by Rafael Soto.   Gohan Rodríguez García (México) outpointed much taller Jorge Luis “Huesitos” Orozco (also from México) who was rated at #32 in the WBC ratings before the bout started.    It turned out to be a very good fight which Gohan deserved to win on points with the following final scoring  99-91 (twice), 97-93.   Native in the Miravalle neighborhood, the new champion is only 20 of age with a bright future to come.
